Class Requirements: Dancers are required to take technique classes based in the style of the roles they will be performing.
For example:
Important Dates:
*Just a reminder that weekly ballet class is a REQUIREMENT for participation. For Pointe roles, dancers MUST attend weekly technique class, pointe classes and strength/flexibility/conditioning. If you have to miss class please contact Meredith about the best option for a make-up. This ensures our dancers are learning the necessary technique as well as the strength and stamina for a safe, enjoyable performance experience.
Other costs: Dancers are responsible for their own shoes (So Danca, Capezio Hanami only for ballet), ALL tights (ballet pink can be purchased from Movin' Easy) and flesh colored leotards to be worn under their costumes. (Flesh colored leotards MUST have clear straps, be very fitted and be very low in the front and back. This prevents them from sticking out of the costumes or bunching up. It also allows our dancers to have modest costume changes.) Depending on the roles they are cast in, dancers may be required to have 2 colors of ballet shoes, character shoes, pointe shoes (also could be required to be colored), tap shoes, or jazz shoes. Long white socks or colored tights may also be required for some roles. Button down long sleeve shirt to wear under costume may be required for some roles as well. ONE Academy has a few of these white long sleeve shirts available as well as black ballet shoes and character shoes, so check with us before purchasing.
Ticket sales help cover the cost of the facilities, therefore all dancers are REQUIRED to sell tickets to our shows. If the dancer does not sell the required amount the family will be billed for the general admission cost of each ticket not sold. This is very important for paying for the use of the theatre and staff.
1 Dancer - 8 tickets
2 dancers - 15 tickets
3+ dancers - 20 tickets
Class Requirements: Dancers are required to take technique classes based in the style of the roles they will be performing.
For example:
- Ballet roles require the appropriate level ballet class.
- Pointe roles will be required to attend the appropriate level of ballet technique classes, appropriate level of pointe classes and strength/flexibility and conditioning each week. If something interrupts this serious level of training, the dancer is expected to use other levels to make up the missed classes. This is for the dancers safety as well as proficiency and success in their performance.
- Breakdancing/Hip Hop roles: Dancers performing roles in these styles will be required to attend the appropriate level of technique class for that style.
Important Dates:
- No rehearsal on Saturday March 7 for Cecchetti Conference at University of North Texas.
- March 14 (Saturday before Spring break) rehearsals will begin as early as 9:30 am so that we can finish early for families that are traveling for Spring Break.
- No rehearsal Saturday, March 21 due to Spring Break. In it's place we will have rehearsal SUNDAY, MARCH 22 starting at 12:30 pm.
- May 30 will be our full show run through in the studio and could start as early as 10:00 am.
- May 31 will be community performances for ONE Academy of Dance, which is an optional performance
- June 5 will be our first Dress/Tech Rehearsal from 4:00-9:30 at Austin Waldorf. *Little White Rabbits will have specific times they are called.
- June 6 (10 am-3:30) Dress Rehearsal at Austin Waldorf School
- June 6 &7 - Alice Shows, Times TBA
