Ballet is the foundation of all dance and therefore is crucial to the technical, artistic and physical development of a dancer. Our ballet program is a highly internationally respected program that ensures dancers are getting the best possible artistic and technical education. Based on the Cecchetti Method for teaching Classical Ballet, students learn a set of exercises, technique, movement theory, French vocabulary, functional anatomy, musicality and artistry. In each level, students prepare a set syllabus of exercises to present to examiners trained by the Cecchetti Council of America. Students must pass each level before advancing to the next grade. This ensures that students are both physically and mentally prepared for the rigors of the next level.

*Ballet/Grade 1.5 is a class designed for dancers who have been training in Grade 1 and are now significantly more advanced. It also serves as an introduction to Cecchetti for dancers who have previous dance training but are new to Cecchetti training.

Jazz and Contemporary styles of dance emerged out of classical ballet to give the dancer new ways of expressing themselves. Jazz tends to be upbeat, fun and a gives the dancer new movement vocabulary to help them to grow both as a dancer and an artist. Contemporary is a style that is a mix of ballet, jazz and modern that is often expressive of an idea, an emotion or tells a story. Dancers love the opportunity to use the technical training they've worked so hard for in ballet to move in a more personally expressive way.

Originally created by borrowing from classical, modern and jazz styles, Contemporary is a very popular style of dance that now draws from almost any style of dance. This mesh of styles allows the artist to express their ideas or sentiments by giving them the freedom to utilize almost any type of movement experience with which they can communicate. Dancers will both utilize the strength and control of their ballet training as well as an emphasis on utilization of the torso as a point of expression. Dancers will be introduced to contract-release, floor work , fall-recovery, rhythm, speed and direction. This is a fun, expressive form of dance that will further students movement vocabulary, coordination and artistic expression.

Like classical ballet, modern is a dance form that teaches the dancer technique, strength and artistic expression. As dancers mature, this class is an excellent class for giving them yet another type of technical foundation that will translate into the professional dance world. It also allow them to express ideas, tell stories, explore movement ideas and create pictures. Modern dance began influencing American Dance in the early 1900s and today can be found in dance pieces of professional Hip Hop Crews to Classical Ballet Companies.
Break Dancing (6+):

Break Dancing originated on the streets of NYC in the early 1970s. Like ballet, break dancing began as an all boy style of dance but now has become popular amongst girls as well. This is a fun class for boys and girls alike to learn b-boy and b-girl skills such as freezes, top rock, down rock, power moves, and tutting.
Hip Hop: any color fitted top, long shorts or pants, socks and tennis shoes, long hair secured in a ponytail or bun
Born on the streets of New York City, Hip Hop is a fun and athletic dance style that challenges dancers to strengthen their upper body, sharpen their movement and teaches them about dance as a community art form.

In this class dancers will learn to become a character through how they act, speak/sing and move. This class will help dancers learn to translate their dancing gifts into a more theatrical setting.
Beginning Tap:

This class is for the beginning student who is 8 or older (exceptions can be made for younger, but mature students). Dancers are taught all the fundamental steps of rhythm tap as well as some simple, classic numbers like the famous shim sham. Emphasis is placed on rhythm, correct form, sound and sound imitation, as well as on the development of improvisational skills. Each students is also educated, through discussion and the viewing of footage, in the history of the art form.
Intermediate Tap:
Any color fitted top, long shorts or pants, socks and black tap shoes

This class is for the student who has studied tap at least one year. The dancer must have obtained mastery of the basic steps used in rhythm tap choreography. This class focuses on developing the basic steps and in perfecting rhythm, sound, and improvisational skills. This class teaches the student how to combine the steps he has learned in both classic and unique ways. Each student continues his/her education in the art form through discussion, the viewing of footage, and finally through imitating and recreating classic numbers.
Strength/Flexibility/Conditioning 1, 2 & 3 (8+):

A class for dancers, athletes and more! This class teaches students about the importance of Flexibility and Strength training that translates to dance, athletics and every day life. Our bodies are created with bones, tendons, ligaments and MUSCLES! It is important to joint longevity, and quality of life that we train our muscles to do the job they were created to, and that is supporting our body’s structure of bones and ligaments as well as facilitating ease of movement. By training the muscles of the body including the smaller muscles around the joint and in the feet, we prevent injury and allow for better movement. This is our most “IN DEMAND” Adult class and students who have taken this class cannot get enough. Find muscles you didn’t know you had, strengthen your body and find a new confidence and joy in life!
Character-
Any colored leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes or character shoes (indicated by teacher)
Recommended for dancers in Ballet 4+. character is the stylized representation of a traditional folk or national dance, mostly from European countries, and uses movements and music which have been adapted for the theater. Character dance is integral to much of the classical ballet repertoire. A good example of character dance within ballet is the series of national dances which take place at the beginning of Act III of Swan Lake. The ballet Don Quixote as well as Paquita also features many character variations based on traditional Spanish dances. Popular character dance adaptations for ballet also include the national dances of Hungary, Russia, Poland, Italy and Spain: csárdás, mazurka, tarantella, flamenco, etc.
